What Roles Can You Assign to the User?

What Roles Can You Assign to the User?

Okay, let’s say you have decided to whom you want to give Bing Ads access. However, what type of access should you grant to the person? Should this person have permission to manage ads campaigns? Or maybe he should have read-only permission?

To answer these questions, you need to find out what opportunities Bing Ads can provide you. Inspect the roles you can assign to users on this advertising platform right now!

Bing Ads has four types of user roles: Super Admin, Standard User, Advertiser Campaign Manager, and Viewer. Here is a quick overview of each of them:

  • Super Admin
    this role has maximum authority. Super Admin has full permissions for all accounts and can manage all aspects of the accounts, including billing and payments. Moreover, this role can also manage other users;
  • Standard User
    this role has less authority than the Super Admin. Nonetheless, Standard Users can still manage campaigns and perform some billing activities on chosen accounts. However, in comparison with Super Admin, this role has some restrictions like no ability to add, edit or delete payment methods, create or delete accounts, etc. Furthermore, this role can manage other users, in case these users aren’t Super Admins;
  • Advertiser Campaign Manager
    this role has the next permissions: account reviewing, campaigns adding, editing, and deleting within the chosen accounts. This role can also view payment methods, however, can’t manage any billing or payment tasks;
  • Viewer
    this role doesn’t provide the same access privileges as other roles. The viewer has read-only rights.

This info should be enough for you to decide what type of access to give. However, if you want to dive deep and get to know more details, follow the link to the Microsoft Advertising Help Center.

How to Share Access to Bing Ads?

We have already told you key points concerning the theme of granting access to a Bing Ads account. And now, it’s time to show you the process.

To begin with, there are two ways you can grant access to a Bing Ads account. The first one is easier. However, it allows you to grant only a standard type of access. And the second one is more complex. But it allows you to choose a user role.

Let’s start with the first one. To grant access to a Bing Ads account, you need to follow the next steps:

  1. Log in to your Bing Ads account;
  2. Find your account number. You can find it in the top left corner or by following the next steps: click on Tools → Preferences → Account Settings → Account Number;
Find your account number

3. Copy the account number and send it to the user you want to share access to.

When the user receives your account number, he should link to your account by following the next steps:

  1. Log in to his Bing Ads account;
  2. Click on Tools;
  3. In the drop-down menu, click on Accounts;
 link to your account by following the next steps

4. On the left panel, find Account summary and click on Link to accounts;

find Account summary

5. After that, the user needs to enter your account number, set up linking details, and send you a request for linking.

When the request is sent, you need to accept it by following the next steps:

  1. Log in to your Bing Ads account;
  2. In the top right corner, find Notifications and click on it. In this section, you should see an account link request;

In case you don’t receive the notification, follow the next steps: click on Tools → Accounts → Accounts summary → Requests → Accept request.

Looks a bit confusing, doesn’t it? However, long story short, you just need to take two steps:

  • Sending your account number;
  • Accepting the linking request.

All other work will be done by the person who needs access.

And what about the second way of sharing Bing Ads access? Let’s take a closer look at it.
In case you want to give a user a Super Admin role or vice versa to limit permissions by assigning the Viewer role, you should follow the next steps:

  1. Log in to your Bing Ads account;
  2. In the top right corner click on Tools;
  3. In the drop-down menu, click on Account access;

4. Afterward, click on the Invite user button;

5. Fill in the form with the user’s details and send the invitation;

After that, the user receives an email invitation and, once accepted, will have access to your account.

Need to audit the account? Provide the Viewer role. Need to provide PPC specialist or team member advanced capabilities? Provide the Standard role, at least.
